Goji is one of
the twenty two ingredients contained in SenSatiaFruit.
Goji is also known as Lycium
Barbarum, wolfberry, lycii berry, and A'Usaj
Known as a wonder food in Asia for
centuries, the goji berry was the subject of poetry and legend
which persuaded local people to enjoy its benefits.
Actual Goji research outside of China, however, was quite rare
until a few years ago.
Since the early 1980s, Goji has been
the subject of a number of important clinical studies, including
several published by the State Scientific and Technological
Commission in China.
These studies have documented the
antioxidant and immune-stimulating properties of Goji (Register
#4848484 and #5858585).
More recent studies in the 1990s
have lent additional scientific support.
Today, many of the legendary
health-giving properties of lycium barbarum (goji's Latin name)
are being confirmed in modern scientific studies.
Goji research does show several
exciting effects that relate to cancer. Research shows it has the
effect of strengthening the immune system.
This would allow the body to perhaps
not allow a cancerous tumor to start growing in the first place.
Goji has been shown to inhibit LDL production, lowering
cholesterol. This should have a positive effect on the liver and
gallbladder that do not function properly if too much cholesterol
is present. Gallstones are made of cholesterol and when the levels
are lowered, they often dissolve or reduce in size. The result is
that if the liver and gallbladder are functioning better, they
will do their job of removing toxins that may be linked to
altering DNA and promoting cancer growth.
Scientists believe that Goji's are
one of a very a small group of 'super- foods' that have up to
twenty times the anti-oxidant power of other foods. These
super-foods provide more anti-oxidant power than mega-doses of
vitamin supplements. They found that Goji berries contain 22
polysaccharides - some of which are totally unique to this plant.
One of these polysaccharides has been found to be a powerful
secretagogue - a substance that stimulates the pituitary gland to
secret the rejuvenative human growth hormone, which helps build
muscle tone and repair skin cells. By helping to mop up free
radicals before they can damage DNA, Goji helps prevent cancers
from ever starting and researchers now report that Goji's blend of
amino acids can actually repair already damaged DNA, converting it
back to its cancer free form.
The Goji Berry is also loaded with nutrients. It contains 19 Amino
Acids, (six times higher than bee pollen) more Beta Carotene than
carrots, more Iron than spinach, 21 Trace Minerals, including
germanium and far more Vitamin C by weight than oranges! The 13 %
protein in the Goji Berry is higher than whole wheat, and displays
an insulin like action that is affective in fat decomposition. The
Goji Berry is loaded with many other vitamins and minerals
including Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamins B1, B2, B6, Vitamin E and
solavetivone, a powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compound.
Truly an incredible food and the best part is the Goji Berry in
juice form, or dried, tastes great! Sweet and delicious somewhat
like a cranberry or a cherry!

Below are some of the reports on Goji
from Asia.
Goji is known as the “longevity fruit.”
Its unique master molecule polysaccharides and powerful antioxidants
defend against premature aging, fighting free-radical damage throughout
the body.
Ranked as one of Asia’s premier adaptogens, goji increases exercise
tolerance, stamina, and endurance. It helps to eliminate fatigue,
especially when recovering from illness.
Goji stimulates the release by the pituitary gland of hGH human growth
hormone), the youth hormone. The benefits of hGH are extensive and include
reduction of body fat, better sleep, improved memory, accelerated healing,
restored libido, and a more youthful appearance.
A 1998 research study showed that increased blood pressure could be
prevented significantly by goji’s master molecule polysaccharides.
Goji is one of the only plant species on earth that contains the
anti-cancer mineral germanium. Its antioxidants and unique polysaccharides
can halt the genetic mutations that can lead to cancer.
Goji contains beta-sitosterol, which has been shown to lower cholesterol
levels.
Goji has been used in China for the treatment of adult-onset diabetes for
many years, and its polysaccharides have been shown to help balance blood
sugar and insulin response. It also contains betaine, which can prevent
fatty liver disease and vascular damage often seen in diabetics.
In an Asian anti-obesity study, patients were given goji each morning and
each afternoon. Results were excellent with most patients losing
significant weight. In another study, goji polysaccharides were shown to
reduce body weight by enhancing the conversion of food into energy instead
of fat.
Goji contains cyperone, a sesquiterpene that benefits the heart and blood
pressure. Its anthocyanins help to maintain the strength and integrity of
coronary arteries.
More than 40 years of Chinese research have revealed goji’s ability to
regulate immunity by commanding and controlling many of the body’s
important defense functions. Goji polysaccharides enhance and balance the
activity of all classes of immune cells, including T-cells, cytotoxic
T-cells, NK cells, lysozyme, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and the
immunoglobulins IgG and IgA.
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a crucial cytokine (cell protein) that induces
potent anti-tumor responses in a variety of cancers. Goji polysaccharides
have been shown in Chinese studies to enhance the production of IL-2. In
the U.S., IL-2 has been under study as an immune promoting factor since
1983, used for some cancers and for HIV infection. Goji also has the
ability to cause the death of tumor cells by inducing apoptosis, a process
in which cancer cells are broken down and recycled.
Goji contains a novel cerebroside that was shown to protect liver cells,
even from highly toxic chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Goji is the premier "brain tonic" in Asia. It contains betaine, which is
converted in the body into choline, a substance that enhances memory and
recall ability
